PROFILE – MEC ABRAHAM VOSLOO
Mr. Abraham Vosloo hails from Askham in the Northern Cape Province.
He matriculated in 1985 at Senior Secondary School Carlton Van Heerden in Upington.MEC Abraham Vosloo is a teacher by profession and holds the following qualifications:
• A Teachers Diploma obtained at Perseverance College of Education Kimberley (1986 – 1988).
• High Diploma in Education at Perseverance College of Education Kimberley (1989)
MEC Vosloo was a full-time educator since 1990 -2005. At the time, he also served as a full-time shop steward of SADTU from 2000-2005. He joined Local Government in 2005, appointed as the Director of Corporate Services in the //Khara Hais Municipality and Municipal Manager of the !Kai Garib Municipality.
Being an activist leader, and at the forefront of bringing change in our communities, he became the Speaker of the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality.
In 2015, he was elected as the Executive Mayor of the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality. MEC Abraham Vosloo enjoys an illustrious career, both in politics and his active involvement in communities.
He has served on various Community and Faith Based Organisations aimed at improving the lives of our people. He is a trade unionist, having served in the structures of COSATU and SADTU from a very early age. In politics, he came through the ranks of the ANC, having served as a volunteer, Branch Secretary and Chairperson, the Regional Secretary and Chairperson in the ZF Mgcawu Region. He is currently serving on the Provincial Executive Committee of the ANC in the Northern Cape.
In 2019, he was appointed as the MEC for the Department of Roads and Public Works. In 2020, he was assigned the responsibility as the MEC for Finance,
Economic Development, Tourism. In 2024, following the National and Provincial Elections, he was appointed as the MEC for Education in the Northern Cape.
