Department launches fully equipped ITC's

 

The Department of Education in partnership with the MTN Foundation officially opened the ICT Laboratories at Okiep Primary and Steinkopf High School recently.

 

MTN SA Foundation provided two computer laboratories to Steinkopf High School and Okiep Primary School respectively. Each laboratory will boast with the following: 

 

We live in a modern, ever-changing environment of which technology is an integral part of. Therefore we have established a key partnership with the MTN SA Foundation to ensure that we prepare our learners and expose them from an very early age to the use of computers. We are confident that this initiative will further enhance the quality of public education in our schools.

 

Jointly with MTN, we will continue to invest in the future of our youth through initiatives such as these that will ensure our learners a better future. The use of ICT in our schools is part of our Departments 10 point plan and the first priority where Operation Phakisa is implemented.

 

Compujectors, also known as the "Classroom in a box" was also handed over to 10 identified schools in the Namakwa District that will assist increasing in the learning ad teaching experience in the classroom through the use of technology to the value of R450 000.

 

Similar programmes will be rolled out the rest of the Province to further enhance alternative methods of teaching through technology in partnership with MTN.
