PREMIER Sylvia Lucas to open state of the art Primary school outside Upington

On Thursday, 18 April 2019, Premier Sylvia Lucas will be opening the a state of the art Karos Primary school outside Upington. 

This multi-million rand school which is situated in Karos village - a stone throw outside Upington, boasts 14 classrooms, 2 ECD classrooms, science lab, nutrition center, computer classroom, media centre, admin block and many more. This multi capital year project forms part of the completed projects of the Department’s infrastructure portfolio during the 2019/20 financial. 

The Northern Cape Department of Education will handing over 5 new schools during this month as part of our commitment to provide quality public education in all our schools and to improve access to schooling. In addition to these official handing over ceremonies, we will also officiate the sod turning for 4 new schools in the Province, mainly in the Frances Baard and John Toalo Gaetsewe Districts, where we experience the most pressure in terms of learner growth. 

South Africa spends over 5 percent of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on basic and higher education which give expression to the Freedom Charter’s clarion call that proclaims that “The Doors of Learning and Culture shall be opened’.
