Offices Closed

The Northern Cape Department of Education has been affected by the spread of the COVID-19 in schools as well as our offices. The health and safety of our employees, educators and learners is of paramount importance as we proceed to navigate through this difficult period.

We follow the protocol that when a positive case is reported, we closed the schools and offices to allow for the disinfection and contact tracing to be done. Today, we have closed the Frances Baard District offices as well as the Northern Cape Department of Education Head Office, because we value the lives of our employees. The Namakwa District office still remains closed as we await the outcome of results from contact traces.

All officials have been requested to work from home, whilst contact tracing is being done. All offices are likely to re-open on Monday, 13 July 2020.

We must emphasize that the same protocol is applicable to our schools and therefore we have seen a rise in the number of schools closed. We are monitoring the situation in our schools and offices to curb the spread of COVID-19.

End.
