Update on the 2021 Online Admissions
The Northern Cape Department of Education can confirm that the Online Admission process is progressing very well. The 2021 Online Admission System will remain open until the 30th of September 2020 and we would like to encourage parents and legal guardians who haven't applied yet, to do so and secure a space for his/her child for the 2021 school academic year at a public ordinary school.
The Online Admission System received in the first week a total number of 17 647 successful applications. The Frances Baard District accounted for 55.9% of the total number of applications, whilst the Namakwa District accounts for the least number of applications received, at 3.5%. The successful applications per Grade is as follows:
- 34% of applications for Grade 8;
- 31% of applications for Grade R and;
- 14% of applications for Grade 1.
We are cognisant of the fact that the Northern Cape is a rural Province, where certain areas/towns are experiencing challenges in terms of internet connectivity. To mitigate these and other factors which may have an impact on the Online Admission process, we identified 154 walk-in centres to assist parents/legal guardians without a device/gadget or internet connectivity to complete the application.
The Department will continue to monitor the use of the Online Admission System and walk-in centres for the duration of the admission period and act swiftly where challenges are reported.
End.
