Learner Admission period extended
The Northern Cape Department of Education has after careful consideration, decided to extend the 2021 Online Learner Admission period to Friday, 9 October 2020. The Department received a number of requests from parents/legal guardians to extend the admission period with at least a week to allow parents to complete their admission applications. We have therefore granted the extension to the admission period and advised parents to make use of the opportunity to apply to more than one school.
Applying to more than one school, will allow the Department to place a learner successfully, according to the criteria that will be utilized. The Online Admission System makes provision for a learner to apply to a maximum of 5 schools, which will ease the placement process. The placement process will commence once the Online Admission System is closed for applications on the 9th of October 2020.
Parents and Legal guardians will receive a system generated sms on the successful placement of his/her child. Parents will be required to log on to the www.ncdoeadmissions.org website to either accept or decline the placement. Appeals must be lodged with the Office of the MEC within 7 days from receiving a notification from the school. Appeals will only be considered if they are based on incorrect/unfair application criteria as set by the Head of Department.
The Department would like to encourage all parents to utilize this opportunity and secure a space at a public ordinary school for his/her child for the 2021 school academic year. We depend on the cooperation of all parents/legal guardians for the successful start of the 2021 school academic. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that we fulfill the constitutional right of every learner in the Province, which is the right to education.
End.
