ONLINE ADMISSION SYSTEM CLOSING

The Northern Cape Department of Education reminds all parents that the 9th of October 2020 is the final day for the 2021 Online Admissions.  The Online Admission System will be closing at midnight for all applications. It is the final opportunity we are granting parents to secure a space at a public ordinary school for their child for the 2021 school academic year.

The 2021 Online Admission System opened for applications on the 14th of October 2020 and the admission period was extended from the 30th of September to the 9th of October 2020 to afford parents who have not applied yet, to do so. The Department provided parents with ample time to submit their online applications with the required documentation. To date we have registered a total of 54 095 successful applications.

All applications received after the 9th of October 2020 will be classified as late applications and will be considered based on the availability of school space.  The admission applications will be considered and recommended as successful and unsuccessful applications in the following order:

-Applicant learner(s) already has (have) a sibling attending the school of application (sibling means a learner who has at least one parent who is also the parent of the learner already attending that school and he or she resides in the same household as that child already attending the school);

-If applicant learner(s) do have parent/ guardian working (an employee) at the school applied to;  

-If the place of residence of the applicant learner(s) is in the same suburb with the school applied to;
-If the place of residence (residential suburb) of the applicant learner(s) is adjacent (immediately next to) to the suburbs of the school applied to;
-If places remain after all the above-mentioned applicants have been offered places, other applicants, in the order of the position of the applicant should be recommended.

The Northern Cape Department of Education is proud of what we were able to accomplish in terms of the development of the Online Admission System. The Online Admission System has proven to be both efficient and effective, whilst handling the volume of applications very well. We thank all our school communities, in particular our parents who participated in the online admission process and provided us with wonderful feedback on the function of the system. This is what we mean when we say:" Education is a societal matter". The Department will soon start the placement of all applications and we anticipate this process to be completed by the end of this year.
