Marking concludes in the Northern Cape
The Northern Cape Department of Education has concluded its marking process at 4 Marking Centres in Kimberley. The marking of answer scripts officially finished today on Saturday, 16 January 2021.
The Department has taken all the measures to ensure that all marking centres adhere to the COVID-19 regulations and guidelines. Unfortunately, 6 markers tested positive and were immediately released from their duties. The contact traces were isolated and subjected to testing. It was anticipated that this would have a direct impact on the completion of marking, but due to the commitment and dedication of markers we managed to finish on time, as initially scheduled.
A total of 231 661 answer scripts were marked by 759 Markers, 166 Senior Markers, 22 Deputy Chief Markers, 47 Chief Markers and 47 Internal Moderators. We thank all markers as well as their families for the selfless sacrifice made towards the future of our Province. Even during the difficult time of COVID-19, you did not hesitate to avail yourself and sacrifice valuable family time with your loved ones. We would also like to thank the Department of Health and staff for the professional services they provided to all our Marking Centres to curb the spread of COVID-19. The continuous efforts by health workers must be applauded and we will forever remain grateful for the assistance you have provided.
The Department of Education will await the release of the 2020 National Senior Certificate Examinations results on the 22nd of February 2021 with high hopes.
End.
