NC 2022 Learner Admission campaign commences on 1 June 2021

The Northern Cape 2022 Learner Admission season will commence on June 1 at 9:00 and close on 30 June 2021 at 24:00 for all public ordinary schools in the province.

The Northern Cape Department of Education is convinced that this will be sufficient time to process all learner admission applications.

The Online Learner Admission system will only cater for Grade R, 1 and 8 applications while the other middle grades must be applied for at the schools of choice.

Given the experience of last year’s learner admission campaign, we anticipate more than 18 000 successful applications in the first week.

Our Online Learner Admission system is ready and calibrated to granulate information to the finest detail in order to help expedite placement of learners without delay.

We are cognisant of the fact that Northern Cape is a rural Province and that there are certain areas and towns where internet connectivity is a challenge.

To this end, the Department has established 153 walk-in centres throughout the Province in order to assist parents and legal guardians who do not have access to

necessary devices and gadgets or internet connectivity to complete their applications. Each walk-in centre will have a dedicated personnel to assist parents in this regard.

Given the current Covid-19 regime, the Department will make provision for all Covid-19 essentials at each walk-in centre including temperature scanners, sanitizers and visitors’ daily registers.

This will ensure that all walk-in centres remain compliant with all Covid-19 guidelines and protocols. Wearing of masks remains compulsory.

The Department has already made preparations for a functional Call Centre with adequate human resource to deal with all learner admission related enquiries from the public.

The Call Centre will start operating as of Monday 17 May 2021.The Department has also lined-up radio interviews and information sessions in all local community radio stations

which will be beneficial to the public in terms of keeping the public informed regarding progress of applications throughout the Learner Admission season.
