MOTSEPE FOUNDATION CONTRIBUTES TO QUALITY PUBLIC EDUCATION
The Department of Education has always worked and continues to work with the private sector and education institutions to improve the quality of education in the Northern Cape.
South Africa is an exceptional case study with regards to the private sector’s engagement in the education sector. This has deep historical roots and is linked to the role education plays in South Africa’s economic, social and political transformation, and in providing the critical skills needed for the country’s economic growth.
Numerous public–private partnerships have been established over the years to address the weaknesses in the schooling system.
Corporations and their affiliated foundations have invested significantly in the education sector, through manifold types of interventions in support to the public system as well as through supplementary parallel activities.
The Northern Cape Department of Education welcomes the generous investment by the Motsepe Foundation towards eight (8) schools in the Northern Cape. This investment will contribute significantly towards the upgrade of infrastructure facilities at the following schools:
-E P Lekhela High School
-Tetlanyo High School
-Thabane High School
-Emmanuel Secondary High School
-Roodepan High School
-Kim-Golo Primary School
-Pampierstad High School (Phokoane)
-Boresetse High School (Dikgatlong)
Each school received a donation of R320 000,which will be used to create a conducive environment for learning and teaching. Education is a societal matter and with key social partners like the Motsepe Foundation we are realising a quality public education system.
The Department would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Motsepe Foundation for the investment towards the future of our country. There is no greater investment, than an investment in Education. It is only through investments like these, that the dreams of our children in the Northern Cape will be realised.
End.
