AUTUMN CAMPS KICK-OFF IN THE NORTHERN CAPE
The Northern Cape Department of Education is set to have learners from across the Province behind desks during our annual Autumn Camps, which will take from 30 March-6 April 2023 and will primarily focus on Progressed Learners, Borderline Learners and Top Achieving Learners.
The Autumn Camp Programme is specifically designed to enhance Grade 12 learners’ performance particularly in schools that underperformed in the focus subjects in the 2022 National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations. The programme is strategically designed to assist learners in all aspects of the current Matric syllabus, but especially in those areas that were highlighted as problematic in the 2022 Diagnostic Report and the Northern Cape Item Analysis.
The Autumn Camp Programme will consist of a series of daily presentations and tutorials with consolidation of content as the main driver of the programme. Learners will also be given notes, exercises and suggested solutions each day on the topics covered, as well as past Grade 12 examination papers.
Learners will be assisted with conceptual understanding of the core topics that they will be examined on in their final examinations.
Tutoring will be done by experienced teachers who have a record of high learner achievement.
Life Orientation sessions on Life Skills and Career Pathing will also be infused into the programme at the Camp for Top-Achieving Learners.
These Autumn Camps will reinforce classroom learning by allowing learners to put their knowledge and skills into practice through revision exercises and the consolidation of content. It is expected that 3743 learners from 122 schools across the Province will attend the 19 Autumn Camps.
We do believe that the Autumn Camps Programme will contribute to an improvement in the overall learner academic performance and success rate of our Grade 12 learners. We will continue to invest into the future of all our children to ensure that every child succeed. This is our commitment to our learners and the people of the Province.
