2023 NATIONAL NUTRITION WEEK
"Healthy eating and exercising plays a vital role on the physical growth of any child". Those were the remarks by the Northern Cape Department of Education Chief Director for School Management, Administration and Support , Sandile Beuzana who delivered the keynote address during the National Nutrition Week celebration in Concordia Primary school outside Springbok in the Namakwa District recently.
For the celebration to be a success the department roped-in external stakeholders including sister departments, such as Agriculture, Sports, Arts and Culture as well as Social Development. Raising the healthy eating awareness eventually helps in curbing the forever growing high number of children with obesity.
As part of promoting healthy livingstyle, the day commenced with a 3km fun walk by the learners and officials , in addition to that there were also other sporting activities on the day such as aerobics, soccer, tug of war, netball and skipping rope.
The department embraces the schools for continuing to serve the approved, balanced and nutritious meals.
