MONITORING THE OPENING OF SCHOOLS

A journey of thousand miles begins with a single steps, those were the remarks by the Northern Cape Department of Education MEC Zolile Monakali during his visit at the Gariep High School in the Pixley Ka Seme district for the monitoring of re-opening of schools.

It has always been a practice by the department that learning and teaching should commence on the first day of school re-opening, this year the usual trend was maintained throughout the province.

MEC Monakali also used his visit to motivate the grade 12 learners who will sit for their final National Senior Certificate examinations later in the year, in addition to that he donated stationary packs to the matriculants.

"I'm very impressed to see parents of grade 8 learners accompanying their children for their first day of senior phase level. Education is societal issues which requires parental involvement.  Premier Dr Zamani Saul has firmly expressed that as the province we are working towards a Morden Growing and Successful province, so it's through education that we can be able to achieve that", Monakali said.

MEC completed his monitoring by visiting the feeder school RD Williams Primary, whereby he also handed stationary and also had a meeting with the Senior Management Team.

End.
