Be part of the National School Governing Body (SGB) election in March 2024 and take charge of your child's education. Parents or legal guardians of learners at public schools must actively participate during these SGB election to democratically elect their representative.

In terms of SASA Section 20 (3) "The governing body may join a voluntary association representing governing bodies of public schools". The Amended National Norms and Standards for School Funding have been Gazetted to cover the:

 

Recognition of a voluntary association representing governing bodies of public schools for purpose of funding;

Funding to school governing bodies as a contribution towards payment of subscription fees to a recognized voluntary association representing governing bodies of public schools; and

Funding to school governing body associations for capacity building.

 

Governing Bodies not yet affiliated should discuss this matter, note the decision and in writing inform the voluntary association of their choice. This letter confirming membership must be signed by the SGB Chairperson.
